About Moisture Barrier / Primer - POLY280 - 10KG Drum
Moisture Barrier for Direct Stick Floors & High-Moisture Subfloors
If glueing down a floor or in applications where a plastic moisture barrier film may not work, roll-on moisture barrier membranes are required to prevent moisture from the subfloor from damaging surface cloors.
Moisture barriers act as a shield, preventing water vapour and moisture from penetrating the subfloor and damaging your flooring materials. This is especially vital in high-moisture areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. Without a moisture barrier, flooring such as hardwood, laminate, or engineered wood is at risk of warping, buckling, or developing mould and mildew, potentially leading to expensive repairs or replacements.
FW POLY280: Advanced Polyurethane Primer & Moisture Barrier 10KG
FW POLY280 is a high-performance, single-component polyurethane primer designed for professional use on both absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors including concrete, screed, self-levelling compounds, timber, particleboard, plywood, tiles as well as well-bonded and waterproof adhesive residuals.
It is developed for subfloors that need to be quickly brought to a condition ready for floor covering installations. It can be applied to substrates with humidity up to 6% CM and is suitable for indoor and outdoor usage.
Coverage Area Per Drum
- Single Coat: Approx. 60 - 80sqm
- Double Coat: Approx. 30 - 40sqm
Note: Conditions depend upon site-specific surface evenness and absorbency.
Key Benefits:
- Versatile Priming: Suitable for preparing absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors for a variety of flooring applications.
-
Moisture Barrier: Effectively manages capillary ascending humidity and higher residual moisture levels, including:
- Up to 6 CM% / 98 RH% in cement screeds without floor heating.
- Up to 3 CM% / 85 RH% in heated cement screeds.
- Up to 7.5% by weight / 98 RH% in concrete.
- No Prior Moisture Testing Required: Can be used directly as a moisture barrier on unheated cement screeds and concrete without pre-measuring moisture levels.
FW POLY280 delivers outstanding performance in protecting and preparing subfloors, ensuring a stable foundation for long-lasting flooring installations.
How to Apply POLY280 Moisture Barrier
Subfloor Preparation:
Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants that may affect adhesion. Remove loosely bonded substances, curing compounds, solvent-based markers, paint, oil, grease, wax, or any other materials blocking absorption into the substrate. Vacuum the surface thoroughly after cleaning.
Application Instructions:
- Stir Well: Stir the FW POLY280 container thoroughly before use.
- Primer Application: Apply with a velour or foam roller, ensuring even coverage without pooling.
Moisture Barrier Use:
When used as a moisture barrier, apply two layers of FW POLY280 using a criss-cross method. Ensure each layer forms a thin, closed film. Complete direct bonding work within 72 hours after the final layer has dried.
Storage and Handling:
Protect FW POLY280 from direct sunlight, extreme cold, and excessive heat during transport, storage, and application. Maintain an application temperature of 5°C or higher for optimal performance.
