About Self Levelling Cement / Compound for Timber Substrates & Commercial Applications 20KG Bag
High Strength Fibre-Reinforced Levelling Compound for Challenging Timber-Based Substrates, Commercial / Warehouse Applications and Indoor / Outdoor Usage.
Why is a different floor leveller required for timber-based or movement-promise substrates?
Most timber substrates have risks of movement or minor vibrations that may eventuate from foot traffic or environmental (temperature and humidity) changes. Standard levelling compounds commonly fail as they do not have sufficient flexibility and crack-resistance, and typically fail due to cracking.
Many stores may recommend standard budget leveller designed for concrete for timber substrates, however, we believe this is risky as the costs of rectification are often greater than 10 times the original cost of the levelling compound i.e. removing the floor covering, removing the damaged levelling compound, disposing in a skip bin, priming, re-levelling and re-laying the floor covering.
Whilst Flooring Works stocks our standard budget-friendly leveller, we highly recommend this Flexible Timber Leveller as it is specially designed for timber-substrates and can resist significantly more movement (within reason).
What is the difference between our standard leveller and our timber-substrate leveller?
Only fibre-reinforced self levelling compounds are truly suitable for timber-based substrates or those with risk of minor vibrations or movement. Our Timber Leveller is specifically designed for timber substrates and is different for 3 reasons:
- Additional Fibre-reinforcement - ultra-fine fibre-technology that increases flexibility flexural and tensile strength, whilst ensuring a smooth surface.
- Increased polymers and less sand / cement - exceptionally high polymer content to increase crack-resistance and allow for up to 100mm in a single pour.
- Additional adhesives - increasing the overall compressive, flexural and tensile strength, giving it a stronger hold and helping absorb and eliminate movement in the timber-substrate.
Properties of our Timber & Flex Substrate Leveller
Super high-performance fibre-reinforced self levelling smoothing compound with exceptional flexural strength designed for:
- Challenging timber-based substrates (timber-plank, plywood, masonite etc)
- Commercial, industrial and warehouse applications as a surface floor covering (a surface sealer coat is recommended)
- Internal and external (outdoor) usage. A waterproof sealer is recommended for exterior usage.
- Wet area usage e.g. bathrooms and saunas.
- Can be used to level and repair concrete substrates prior to epoxy coatings
This is a medium to heavy load trafficable (when sealed) levelling compound and suitable for forklifts, pallet trucks - with impact loading.
Thickness (can be poured in a single application):
- General Use: 1.5mm - 50mm
- Pouring up 50mm in a single pour is achieved through exceptionally high polymer content and reduced sand and cement that typically sinks to the bottom.
- In certain applications, you can pour up to 100mm, however, you must mix the correct water content and not more than 4.5L
- Timber-Substrates with risk of movement or Industrial Usage (Warehouse / Factory): we recommended a minimum of 5mm, but around 8 - 10mm will provide much better strength and crack resistance. Thickness increases the strength and helps prevent cracking.
Note: Please use with matching Timber & Non-Porous Primer.
Bag Coverage:
≈ 12.25mm / 1m²
≈ 3mm / 4m²
Walking Time:
≈ 2 - 4 hours
Flooring Install:
≈ 24 hours
Mixing Ratio:
4.4 - 4.5L
Working Time:
20 - 30 minutes
Compressive Strength:
Over 35MPa (28 Days)
A super high-strength self levelling compound to smooth off uneven construction substrates, designed especially for timber substrates. It has exceptional cracking resistance with compressive strength of over 35 - 40MPa and tensile bending strength of over 8MPa.
It is suitable for residential and heavy duty commercial areas alike, serving as a strong substrate for timber, parquetry, resilient, vinyl, linoleum, carpet and tile floor materials are applied to the surface.
Usage Areas
Our super-flexible levelling compound is designed to level most timber-based substrates (when paired with our Timber substrate primer).
- New and existing strip timber
- Particleboard, plywood
- Compressed fibre cement flooring, terrazzo, quarry
- Ceramic Tiles
- Over radiant floor heating systems
Note: Not suitable over floating floors, resilient floor coverings and direct stick timber flooring.
Additionally, it is suitable as a surface floor:
- Can be polished (Polished Concrete)
- Pigments can be added for visual colour
- Aggregates can be added for exposed stone effects
- Interior or Exterior (External) use
